Come out and support the SEEDS program at Global Dance. This unique local youth mentoring initiative's mission is to create healthy and strong young women who are socially and fiscally responsible to themselves and their community. Global Dance accomplishes this through not just dance, but also talking circles, journal writing, and presentations. It's almost time for World Bellydance Day, and that means another year of Shimmy Mob! This worldwide project, launched in 2011, supports women's and children's shelters in local communities. In North Georgia, a variety of Shimmy Mob events will be happening.

May goes out with a bang as Amani Jabril presents a weekend of workshops and performances featuring live music and top-shelf instructors, including dancers Amani and Rosa Noreen and musician Jonatan Gomes Derbaq. This is a great opportunity to study with local star Amani as well as Rosa Noreen, an accomplished dancer based in Portland, Maine. Visit the Facebook event for more information about the workshops.

Friday night, come out to Steve's Live Music for performances by Amani and Rosa, as well as lots of local and regional talent, along with live music by Jonatan and Mazaag, plus open dancing for everyone.

Amani says, "Over this weekend-long event, we will explore our artistic connections with our bodies, the rhythms of the Dance and our interconnected and interdependent expressions of art through a series of intermediate/advanced level workshops, forums and shows designed to help Middle Eastern dance-artists refine their craft in a unique and conscientious way."
