September Preview

September kicks off with one of the biggest events of the year in metro Atlanta's raqs community, Essence of Belly Dance... featuring the cast of Bellydance Evolution and two big shows. Later in the month you'll find workshops and haflas all over town! Get out there and support your community.

September 11-14

Essence of Belly Dance 4

Twelve Atlantic Station Hotel, 361 17th Street NW, Atlanta
Jillina in "Alice in Wonderland"
This event, brought to us by Atlanta Fusion Belly Dance and now in its fourth year, brings both Oriental and Tribal Fusion performers and instructors to metro Atlanta. This year's Essence of Belly Dance is centered around the Bellydance Evolution production, starring Jillina, Sharon Kihara, Issam Houshan, and more. Enjoy a variety of workshops with cast members Jillina, Sharon, and Issam, as well as Louchia, Heather Aued, Lauren Boldt, and Danielo Mendes. There will also be two shows, including a performance of "Belly Dance Evolution: Alice in Wonderland" featuring local raqs talent in guest spots!

Cabaret Meets Tribal Fusion Gala and Fashion Show

Bellydance Evolution's "Alice in Wonderland"

Bellydance Evolution reimagines this magical tale through the lens of world fusion dance, at the historic Rialto Theater. Folks who have traveled to see this production declared it "an incredible mix of belly dance and Broadway." Click here for tickets.

Most ATS enthusiasts in the Southeast are familiar with Birmingham's Devyani dance company, who work very closely with Carolena and FatChance on ATS vocabulary, instruction, and performance. DeAnna is a very familiar face to any follower of the troupe... and she's also an accomplished yoga instructor. She brings both skill sets to a day of workshops at Global Dance:
